Well off late I got to know few people who are pretty orthodox.. Being born as a Brahman I have met lot of them though but the one i met recently are different.. I have seen ma Mom and grand mom's doing all kinds of Poojas.. Honestly I have never done them but I always wondered WATS the big thing in "Brahmanism"..
I tried answering them by myself and in the process I met some very interesting characters.. One of them is ma gud frnd Venky.. He is 25 year old guy who works for HCL.. That's the one part of his life but in the weekends he is no less to a sacred priest.. He is absolutely god fearing and credits all his success so far to the GOD!! Pretty interesting.. Well another one is ma childhood frnd Mahesh who is religious but more importantly hard working.. I have never seen him crediting his success to God though he believes in the same.. Both of them pretty different and both of them defining various spectrum's of "Brahmanism"
I also know many others who are obsessed about their community. Well for them being a Brahman is such a big thing in the world. They fail to realise though that being a gud human is more important.. They follow all kinds of sastras but they don't possess a important dhrama which is "humanity".. I may be hypothetical when I make such a statement but there are some reasons which made me think so.. The primary reason is negligence towards other community people.. They always have a superior tone when they speak to non-Brahmans.. This is something which made non-Brahmans hate us.. In this world every one is equal and being proud just because one is born as a Brahman is stupidity.. There are some who claim that Brahmin's are the one who is close to GOD.. Reading Mantras is their birth right and for them no one else can do the same.. Well not sure who gave them this right because in bird's eye view of God every one is equal.. Most of us actually fail to understand that we have a short life and that should be properly utilised to love other fellow human beings..
I have known few people who spend a lot of time reading mantras and sashtras.. Well that's a great thing to do but my opinion is pretty different on this too.. I accept that god will be pleased to have us chant his name but he does not except us to do the same every single minute of our life time.. We are born in this world for a reason and everyone has a goal to be achieved.. No God will be pleased if we don't strive hard for that instead keep chanting his name.. God would be much more pleased to see us work hard and do good for our beloved ones rather than seeing us sitting before him and chant his name every single minute.. World is becoming so competitive and we are coming across latest technology every single day.. But the shameful part is our contribution towards that technology is minimal.. We have people telling that we are the superior race just because we started telling Vedas some 20000 years ago and we are doing the same till now.. Our contribution to the world society is very minimal and this is something we should strive hard for..
Well I also knew some who are obsessed about their language.. Well we fail to understand language is just a medium of communication and it shouldn't be taken close to our heart.. I had an elderly person Condemning me because I didn't know Kannada.. That was because I was a Kannada Brahman and he said it should be mandatory for me to know Kannada.. Nice logic.. But I would like to question him that how many of us here in south India know Hindi? Being an Indian we must be knowing Hindi, right? I am sure he doesn't have answers for that.. Well the problem with us is that sometimes our community becomes more important than our country.. This is the main reason for the bomb blasts we are having in our country..
All said and done I have single point to made here.. Every single second is important for us..Lets utilise that properly for the betterment of our country:)
